Which hero should you pick?

Runs in Task Bar Hero use a party of up to 3 heroes, so you are never locked into a single pick. A few pointers for your first unlocks:

Best first party

Knight, Ranger, and Sorcerer are the three base-game heroes, and together they already cover tank, ranged damage, and wave clear. Knight is the most forgiving hero to learn the game with.

Heroes FAQ

How many heroes are in Task Bar Hero?
There are 6 playable heroes: Knight, Ranger, and Sorcerer in the base game, plus Priest, Hunter, and Slayer as DLC heroes.
What is the best hero for beginners?
Knight is the most forgiving first pick thanks to its high HP and armor. Pair it with Ranger or Sorcerer for damage and you have a solid first party of base-game heroes.
How do hero unlocks work?
Heroes are unlocked with gold earned in game; the unlock cost is shown on each hero card. Priest, Hunter, and Slayer also require owning the DLC.
Can I use more than one hero at once?
Yes. A run uses a party of up to 3 heroes, and each hero can occupy only one slot. Use the Build Planner to theorycraft a full party with gear, skills, and runes.
What do the DPS and EHP ranks mean?
Each card ranks the hero against the rest of the roster using level 1 base stats. DPS combines attack damage, attack speed, and crit; EHP is max HP scaled by armor. Rank 1 is the best of the 6 heroes.
